E458 Outdoor fan no 1 (top) error 

 
E458 is caused by the top fan not turning. 
 
On a 

single fan size 9 units

, it is possible to see this problem 

because you will be able to hear the compressor running but the fan 
will not be moving.

  

 

After about 3 minutes the compressor will cut out and the error will 
appear on the controller and the outdoor unit. The first thing to 
check is if the plug which connects the fan motor is connected 
properly

. DO this with the power off, 

once the power is off wait for 

60 seconds and make sure all the LEDs are off.

 

 

The plug can be found on the front of the inverter PCB and is white 
with 6 wires in it.  
 
Even though the size 9 only has 1 fan there are still 2 sockets the 
fan motor plug should plugged into the bottom socket if it is not 
plugged in or plugged into the upper socket this will be the cause of 
the error.

 

 

On a twin fan 16 units

, the top fan will not be moving.

  

 

The top fan goes in CN90 fan 1, front socket and the bottom fan in 
the back socket.

 

 

If you think the fan motor is faulty you can test it with a 
meter. 
 

Unplug it from the board and test the resistance. See table.
