Percent Key (+% and -%) Operations
Use the Percent keys to add a percentage surcharge or subtract a percentage from an item or the
subtotal of a sale. You can enter the amount of the percentage before pressing the
-%
or
+%
keys,
or you can program a preset percentage if you are consistently using the same percentage.
Programming determines whether it is possible to enter a percentage when the key is also
programmed with a preset percentage. See “
+%
and
-%
Key Programming” on page 58 to set a
preset percentage.
Preset Percent on a Department or PLU Item
In this example the
-%
key is preset with a rate of %10.00.
1.
Register the discounted item.
2.
Press the
-%
key:
-%
3.
The discount is automatically subtracted.

Enter a Percent on a Department or PLU
You can also operate the -% or +% keys by entering the percentage of the discount or surcharge. If
necessary, you can enter the percentage with a decimal key (up two 3 digits, i.e. 99.999%).

fraction of a percent, you must use the
