This always applies
– before you check, clean or perform any work on
the lawnmower,
– before you remove any blockages or any items
clogging up the ejection chute.
Cleaning
$
Remove all dirt and grass directly after mowing. Turn
the mower over onto ist left side (in the direction of
travel) and use a brush or cloth to clean.
Do not rotate the blade since otherwise motor
oil is pumped into the carburettor/air filter.
Never clean the mower with water since
this may damage the ignition system and
carburettor.
Storage
Always store the lawn-mower in a clean condition in
a closed, dry room.
Folding away the handle
– For a space-saving storage loosen the four wing
nuts so that the handle can either be stood
upright down over the motor.
– Take care not to bend the starter cable!
10.
Servicing your mower
Checking operating safety
Retighten all screws and nuts after the first few
operating hours and from time to time thereafter.
Check the condition and correct attachment of the
blade prior to each mowing in order to avoid
accidents.
If the blade is blocked, e.g. by driving over an
obstacle, have a specialist check whether parts
of the mower are damaged or deformed.
A specialist only should be entrusted with
any repairs which may become necessary.
Replacing and sharpening the blade
%
+
&
W
Switch off engine and disconnect spark plug
connector, put on safety gloves!
– Turn the mower over onto its left side.
– Insert a screwdriver (7) into the clean blade fixing
screw (6) and turn, holding the blade, until the
borehole in the pressure washer (4) points to the
edge of the blade.
– Insert a metal link (2) in the borehole of the
pressure washer (4) so that it grips over the edge
of the blade (3). The metal link hooks onto the
blade upon release, thus preventing the clutch
spinning.
– By turning the screwdriver to the left, the blade
fixing screw (6) with spring washer (5) can be
removed and clutch lining (1), blade (3), clutch
lining (1) can be removed.
WARNING
The clutch linings may not come into contact with
cleaning agent (e.g. cold cleaner) and oil and
must be replaced from time to time.
– A blunt blade should be sharpened using a
grinder as shown in the sketch it will otherwise fall
out of balance.
21
– If the collector is full the indicator collapses; once
this happens stop mowing immediately and
empty the collector.
NOTE
If the fabric of the collector is very dirty the indicator
will not inflate. Clean the fabric immediately in this
case! Only if the collector is permeable to air will it
collect grass perfectly.
Emptying the grass collector
– Switch off engine.
– Lift ejection flap.
– Remove the filled collector upwards holding the
collector by the carry bar.
– Close the ejection flap.
– Empty the collector thoroughly holding it by the
carry bar and the moulded grip in the bottom.
WARNING
W
Do not clean the collecting
bag with hot water!
Mowing without grass collector
When mowing without grass collector the ejection
flap on the mower housing must always be closed
(flap down).
Time restrictions
The time at when law-mowers may be used varies
from region to region. Please ask the competent
authorities before using your mower.
Tips on caring for your lawn
"
Every lawn starts to look unkempt after 10 – 14 days.
You will notice that the more frequently the lawn is
cut, the better and more even it will look. This is
because frequent cutting will make your grass
stronger and more resistant. Remove all stones,
wood, twigs etc. from the lawn before cutting it, but
watch out for hard objects whilst mowing.
Short grass cuttings up to 1 cm long can be left on
the lawn after cutting, whilst the cuttings from higher
grass should be removed after mowing.
Only mow the lawn when dry where possible. The turf
will be slightly damaged if the grass is cut when wet;
the wheels press into the grass leaving indentations.
If the grass has become too long, first cut the lawn
with a higher cutting adjustment in one direction and
then at the lower adjustment at right angles to the first
direction. Only cut the grass if the cutter is sharp and
not damaged to avoid the grass blades fraying. You
will achieve a clean cut if you guide the mower at
walking speed in straight lines. These lines should al-
ways overlap a few centimetres to avoid uncut strips.

Switching off the engine
§
– Release the safety switch contact.

Caring for your mower
As a rule of thumb you should always switch off the
engine and disconnect the spark plug connector
before commencing any work on the mower.
