OPERATION

WARNING:

Do not allow familiarity with this product to make you 
careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second 
is sufficient to inflict serious injury.

WARNING:

Always remove battery pack or unplug power cord from 
your product when you are assembling parts, making 
adjustments, cleaning, or when not in use. Removing 
battery pack or unplugging power cord will prevent 
accidental starting that could cause serious personal 
injury.

WARNING:

Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to 
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in 
objects being thrown into your eyes and other possible 
serious injuries.

WARNING:

Do not use any attachments or accessories not 
recommended by the manufacturer of this product. The 
use of attachments or accessories not recommended 
can result in serious personal injury.

APPLICATIONS

You may use this product for the purposes listed below:

 

Clearing obstructions from plumbing drains

NOTICE:

This product is designed to be powered by either a 
RYOBI

 

ONE+

 

18V battery pack (DC mode) or by 

electric power (AC mode). Either power source can be 
used by installing an approved battery pack or power 
cord into the product as described in this manual.

INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK

See Figures 1 - 2, page 13.

 

Place the direction of rotation selector in the OFF position.

 

Pull the bottom of the battery compartment latch toward 
you to release, then lift up on it to clear the tab on the 
battery compartment cover. Release the latch and lift the 
cover to open.

 

Insert the battery pack into the battery port.

 

Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack 
snap in place and that battery pack is secured in the 
product before beginning operation.

 

Close the battery compartment cover, place the top of 
the latch over the tab on the cover, then push the bottom 
of the latch toward the auger housing to secure.

NOTE: 

When finished using the tool, open the battery 

compartment cover and depress the latches on the battery 
pack to remove.

manuals for your battery pack and charger.

INSTALLING/REMOVING POWER CORD

See Figures 1 and 3, page 13.

WARNING:

Do not route cord under carpets, rugs, runners, furniture, 
or appliances and always route cord away from traffic 
areas to prevent a tripping hazard.

 

Place the direction of rotation selector in the OFF position.

 

Pull the bottom of the battery compartment latch toward 
you to release, then lift up on it to clear the tab on the 
battery compartment cover. Release the latch and lift the 
cover to open.

  Insert the female end of the power supply cord into the 

product as shown until it clicks into place.

  Connect the male end of the power cord to the power 

source.

  Make sure the power cord is secured before beginning 

operation.

  To remove the power cord, unplug the cord from the 

power source.

  Press the release button on the top of the female end of 

the power supply cord and remove from the tool.

NOTE:

 Install the power supply storage bracket with hook-

and-loop strap and use to secure the external power supply 
to the frame of the auger if desired.

DIRECTION OF ROTATION SELECTOR

See Figure 4, page 13.

The direction of rotation selector is used to select the direction 
of rotation of the cable when the foot pedal is depressed.

 

Press the left side of the switch (

) to rotate the cable 

counterclockwise. This direction is used to bore into an 
obstruction.

 

Press the right side of the switch (

) to rotate the cable 

clockwise. This direction is used only in brief periods if 
an auger tip becomes caught in an obstruction and stops 
rotating or begins to kink. 

 

Place the switch in the center position to turn rotation 
OFF.

NOTE:

 The drum will not rotate unless the switch is pressed 

on either the left or right side and the foot pedal is depressed.
