Cabling the R&S SX801 Exciter for Digital TV
Inputs for digital TV
The input signals can be fed in ASI or SMPTE format.
1. Connect the first transport stream to
X20
(
TS1
). With hierarchical coding (DVB only),
X20
is the input for the HP stream.
2. If signal standby is required, connect a second transport stream to
X21
(
TS2
). With hi-
erarchical coding,
X21
is the input for the LP stream.
Reference signals
1. To increase frequency accuracy, connect an external reference source (5 MHz or 10
MHz) to
X64
(
EXT REF
).
Note
Alternatively, the seconds pulse from an external 1PPS signal (on
X23
) or the optional
internal GPS receiver (GPS antenna on
X66
) can be used as a frequency reference.
2. For SFN operation, also supply a 1PPS signal for timing synchronization:
a) If the optional internal GPS receiver is used, connect the GPS antenna to
X66
(
GPS ANTENNA
).

a) The fans in the extended amplifier receive their power supply from the base amplifier if the AC power supply
to the extended amplifier drops out, unless the base amplifier supply drops out. This protects the combiner's
load-balancing resistor from overheating.
