Functions
This chapter describes the printer's extended security features and how to specify them.
Specifying the Extended Security Functions
In addition to providing basic security through user authentication and administrator specified access limits
on the printer, security can also be increased by encrypting transmitted data and data in the Address Book.
If you need extended security, specify the printer's extended security functions before using the printer.
This section outlines the extended security functions and how to specify them.
For details about when to use each function, see the corresponding chapters.
Changing the Extended Security Functions
Administrators can change the extended security functions according to their role.
For details about logging in and logging out with administrator authentication, see p.25 "Logging in Using
Administrator Authentication" and p.25 "Logging out Using Administrator Authentication".
To change the extended security functions, display the extended security screen as follows.
1.
Press the [Menu] key.
2.
Press the [ ] or [ ] key to select [Security Options], and then press the [OK] key.
3.
Press the [ ] or [ ] key to select [Extended Security], and then press the [OK] key.
4.
Press the [ ] or [ ] key to select the setting you want to change, and then press the [OK]
key.
5.
Change the setting, and then press the [OK] key.
6.
Press the [Menu] key.
Extended Security Settings
This section explains the setting items under the Extended Security menu.
Driver Encryption Key
This can be specified by the network administrator.
Encrypt the password transmitted when specifying user authentication. If you register the encryption
key specified with the printer in the driver, passwords are encrypted. For details, see the printer driver
Help.
