WARNINGS:

Code(NFGC),ANSIZ223.1/NFPA54,orCAN/CSAB149.1,
NaturalGasandPropaneInstallationCode.
•Installagaspressureregulatorinthegassupplyline.
Theregulatorshouldnotexceedthemaximumsupply
pressure.DONOTuseanindustrial-typegasregulator.
•Shouldoverheatingoccurorthegassupplyfailtoshut
off,turnoffthemanualgascontrolvalvetothewater
heater.
CAUTIONS:
•Donotattemptrepairofelectricalwiring,gaspiping,
remotecontrol,burners,ventconnectors,orothersafety
devices.Referrepairstoqualifiedservicepersonnel.
•Turnoffthemanualgasshut-offvalveifthewaterheater
hasbeensubjectedtooverheating,fire,flood,physical
damage,orifthegassupplyfailstoshutoff.
•Donotturnonthewaterheaterunlessthewaterandgas
suppliesarecompletelyopened.
Natural Gas and Liquefied Petroleum Safety
DANGERS:
•Neverattempttoconvertthewaterheaterfromnatural
gastoLP.Thewaterheatermustonlyusethefueltype
inaccordancewithlistingondataplate—naturalgas
fornaturalgasunitsandLPforLPunits.Anyotherfuel
usagewillresultindeathorseriouspersonalinjuryfrom
fireand/orexplosion.Thiswaterheaterisnotcertified
foranyotherfueltype.
•Bothnaturalgasandpropane(LP)haveanodorantadded
toaidindetectingagasleak.Somepeoplemaynot
physicallybeabletosmellorrecognizethisodorant.If
youareunsureorunfamiliarwiththesmellofnatural
gasorLP,askthegassupplier.Otherconditions,such
as“odorantfade,”whichcausestheodoranttodiminish
inintensity,canalsohideorcamouflageagasleak.
•WaterheatersusingLPgasaredifferentfromnatural
gasmodels.Anaturalgaswaterheaterwillnotfunction
safelyonLPandviceversa.
•LPmustbeusedwithgreatcaution.Itisheavierthanair
andwillcollectfirstinlowerareas,makingithardto
detectatnoselevel.
•Beforeattemptingtolightthewaterheater,makesure
tolookandsmellforgasleaks.Useasoapysolution
tocheckallgasfittingsandconnections.Bubblingat
aconnectionindicatesaleakthatmustbecorrected.
Whensmellingtodetectagasleak,besuretoalsosniff
nearthefloor.
•GasdetectorsarerecommendedinLPandnatural
gasapplicationsandtheirinstallationshouldbe
inaccordancewiththedetectormanufacturer’s
recommendationsand/orlocallaws,rules,regulations,
orcustoms.
•Combustiblematerials,suchasclothing,solvents,
cleaningmaterials,orflammableliquids,mustnotbe
placedinthevicinityofthewaterheater.
•Ifagasleakispresentorsuspected:
–Donotattempttofindthecauseyourself.
–Neveruseanopenflametotestforgasleaks.The
gascanigniteresultingindeath,personalinjury,or
propertydamage.
