CARING FOR YOUR WATER HEATER

watertemperatures,andotherpotentiallyhazardous

conditionsresultingindeath,personalinjury,and/or

Properlymaintainingyourwaterheaterwillensure

dependable,trouble-freeservice.

UserPreventiveMaintenance

Establishandfollowaroutinepreventivemaintenance

program.Thefollowingsuggesteditemsshouldbe

includedinyourprogram.

•Theusershallcheckandcleanthewaterfilter

monthly.See

WARNING:

Hotwaterisreleasedduring

manualoperationofthereliefvalve.Makesureall

peopleandanimalsareclearfromtheareabefore

performingthischecktopreventdeath,personal

injury,and/orpropertydamagefromhotdrainwater.

•Theusershallchecktheoperationofthepressure

reliefvalveannually.Liftingtheleverhandleon

thepressure-reliefvalveopensthevalvetoflush

hotwaterthroughthedischargelinetothedrain.

Afterseveralgallonshavedrained,releasethelever

handletoclosethevalveandstopdraining.

NOTICE:

Ifthepressurereliefvalveonthe

hotwaterheaterdischargesperiodically,thismay

indicateaprobleminthewatersystem.Contactthe

watersupplieroraplumbingcontractortocorrect

theproblem.DONOTplugthereliefvalveoutlet.

•Inspectandkeeptheareaaroundthewaterheater

clearandfreeofflammablematerials,suchas

gasolineandotherflammablevaporsandliquids.

•Visuallyinspectthewaterheaterfordamageand/or

denting.Ifpresent,contactaservicepersonnelto

verifyproperoperation.

•Checkforabnormalsoundduringnormaloperation
