Notes on Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
• Keep single-use/rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children. Do not leave
batteries lying around. There is a danger that children or pets may swallow them,
danger to life! If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Make sure that rechargeable batteries are not opened, short-circuited or thrown
into a fire, as there is a risk of explosion.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batter-
ies (pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-).
• Chemical liquid may leak out of spent or overly aged batteries, which may damage
the device. Acid contact due to leaking or damaged single/rechargeable batteries
can burn your skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves.
• Do not mix single-use batteries with rechargeable batteries.
• Do not mix single-use/rechargeable batteries with different charge levels (e.g., full
and half-full batteries/rechargeable batteries).
• Replace always the entire set of batteries and never individual cells.
Operating the base station and the outdoor sensor with rechargeable bat-
teries is possible. However, the operating time and the display contrast are
reduced by the lower voltage (battery = 1.5V, rechargeable battery = 1.2V).
Rechargeable batteries are very sensitive to cold, therefore, the service life
of the outdoor sensor decreases further during the winter.
We recommend therefore to operate both, the base station and the outdoor
sensor with high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure long and reliable opera-
tion.

• Press button “°C / °F” located inside the battery compartment to switch between
temperature in °C (degrees Celsius) and temperature in °F (degrees Fahrenheit) on
the outdoor sensor’s display.
• Close the battery compartment.
Initial operation of the base station
• Open the base station’s battery compartment while tilting up the base (8) and slide
the battery compartment cover (9) downwards and out.
• Insert two AAA/Micro batteries into the battery compartment paying attention to the
correct polarity (observe po and negative/-).
• Close the battery compartment again.
• Immediately after the batteries are inserted, the base station briefly shows all dis-
play segments. First, the internal temperature reading pops up in the middle row on
the display.
