4. Installation - mechanical
Place your caravan or trailer on a level surface.
Preferably a lifting ramp or an assembly pit. If you
use a car-jack, please make sure that the caravan
or trailer is secured with adequate supporting
blocks.
Working under the vehicle without
support and security measures can
cause danger to your life!
Take all parts out of the packing and arrange
them on the floor in front of you.
M1
Determine the
ideal position
in front of and
behind the axle. When doing this, please note
the following:
- the distance between the lower edges of the
chassis and the floor
(min. 110 mm !)
- Frame bottom line and ground
(recommended ground clearance min. 120
mm)
- additional parts fixed on the trailer, such as
waste-water pipes, spare wheel, etc.
M2
First clamp one of the
drive units
on to the
chassis using two U-bolts, 4 hexagon nuts
M8, 4 washers M8, one flat plate above the
chassis and one angular assembly plate be-
low the chassis
. This will result in the chas-
sis being clamped between both plates. Fas-
ten the nuts by hand. The drive unit is now
attached to the chassis.
ATTENTION!
The length of the stabilizer bar has to be adjusted
to the vehicle in accordance with the mounting
dimensions given under
.
If the stabilizer bar does not enter in the square
axle of the drive unit for at least
300 mm
, you
must use a (optional available) 2 m stabilizer bar.
Otherwise the optimal function cannot be guaran-
teed.
If the enclosed stabilizer bar is too long, it must be
shortened correspondingly.
M3
Determine the exact centre of the stabilizer
and mark it.
Push the
stabilizer bar
into the rectangular
tube of the already installed drive unit.
M4
Now push the other end of the stabilizer bar
into the rectangular tube of the uninstalled
drive unit
and fix this drive unit to the vehicle
frame as described in M2. Please fix the nuts
only by hand.
M5
Now centralise the
stabilizer bar
and tighten
its binding bolts by hand.
M6
Now set the correct
distance
between the
drive units and the tyres.
ATTENTION!
For adjusting the distance the wheel must be
under full load and that the caravan must stand
on a flat underground. The distance between tyre
tread and friction rollers must be approximately 15
mm. Make sure that be the drive units are in the
disconnected position .= OFF.
Use the little wooden block as a measure
4
.
M7
Now fasten the bolts with 25 Nm to fix the
stabilizer
and secure the bolts with the lock-
nuts.
Make sure that the centre of the stabilizer,
which you marked, is still in the centre below
the caravan or trailer.
M8
Now fasten the
clamp-fastenings
of the right
and the left drive unit with 30 Nm.
Please make sure that the distance between
the drive rollers and the tyres has not chan-
ged and it is still 15 - 20 mm.
Now install the protection clamps in front of or
behind the left and right
clamp-fastenings
.
The protection clamps are an additional pro-
tection against the moving of the drive units
along the vehicle chassis.
Using only one bolt per protection clamp,
fasten with 30 Nm.
M9
Mount the small shrinkage tube at the end of
the synchronous bar (without drilling). It
serves the sound damping.
Shove the teles-copying synchronous bars
into each other.
The holes for the mountage should be at the
outside. Fasten the clamp to the support of
the synchronous bar as much as possible in
the middle of the stabilizator bar.
Shove the synchronus bar throught the clamp
and fasten the little bar by means of the en-
closed screw and nut at the spindle. Mount
the second shrinkage tube in height of the
clamp on the big bar now. Mount the big syn-
chronous bar at the other spindle.
