16. Practical tips for the first hover flights
Your model helicopter in now ready for the first extensive test flights and you can start training. Even during flight
training you should make sure to observe some basics:
• For hovering training, the tail of the helicopter must always point towards you.
• To start with, only lift the helicopter approx. 20 - 30 cm from the ground to be able to set it down quickly, should that
be necessary.
• In case of an emergency landing, do not pull back the throttle/pitch control stick too quickly as the helicopter would
otherwise land very roughly and the main rotor blades might hit the tail rod.
• If the rotors are blocked by an obstacle, pull the throttle/pitch stick to the lowest position immediately in order to
switch off the drive motor.
• Mark the starting point on the ground and first try to keep the helicopter hovering over the marking.
Caution!
If you notice after a few minutes that motor performance of your electronic helicopter gets weaker, stop
operating it immediately. Allow the rechargeable flight battery to cool down and then charge it. Always
avoid a total discharge of the flight battery.
If - after a few flights - you develop a feeling for your helicopter, you can carry out further optimizations.
