d) Changing the Control Stick Assignment
The four control functions of the helicopter are controlled using the two control sticks at the transmitter. The transmitter
offers the possibility of individually distributing the different steering functions to the control sticks. The respective lever
allocation is called mode 1, 2, 3 or 4.
Overview of the different lever assignments (modes):
Mode 1:
Right control stick forward and backward: Pitch function (THRO)
Right control stick left and right: Roll function (AILE)
Left control stick forward and backward: Nod function (ELEV)
Left control stick left and right: Tail function (RUDD)
Mode 2 (Factory Settings):
Right control stick forward and backward: Nod function (ELEV)
Right control stick left and right: Roll function (AILE)
Left control stick forward and backward: Pitch function (THRO)
Left control stick left and right: Tail function (RUDD)
Mode 3:
Right control stick forward and backward: Pitch function (THRO)
Right control stick left and right: Tail function (RUDD)
Left control stick forward and backward: Nod function (ELEV)
Left control stick left and right: Roll function (AILE)
Mode 4:
Right control stick forward and backward: Nod function (ELEV)
Right control stick left and right: Tail function (RUDD)
Left control stick forward and backward: Pitch function (THRO)
Left control stick left and right: Roll function (AILE)
Since the pitch control always requires the control stick to remain in the last position set and not being
pushed back into the centre position by spring force, the transmitter can only be operated in modes 2 or 4
without mechanical conversion of the control levers.
