Job Setup & Field Testing
Granular Applications
Initial Job Setup
1.
Verify that the product bin is empty.
2.
Place all boom section switches in the OFF position.
3.
Turn the SCS console power ON and verify that the console is in Automatic mode (Press AUTO/MANUAL
to toggle).
4.
Verify the boom widths, speed cal, spreader constant, product density, valve cal, and rate cal values have
been programmed correctly.
5.
Press SELF TEST to access the Self Test mode and enter a simulation speed. This value should represent
the normal operating speed.
6.
Operate the boom switches to verify that the booms are functional.
7.
Toggle the SCS console to Manual mode (Press AUTO/MANUAL).
8.
Place all boom switches in the ON position.
9.
Hold the INC/DEC switch in the INC position for approximately 12 seconds. Note maximum rate displayed
on the screen.
10.
Hold the INC/DEC switch in the DEC position for approximately 12 seconds. Note minimum rate displayed
on the screen.
11.
The target application rate must be between the maximum and minimum rate displayed.
Field Test
1.
Drive at the target application speed with booms off to verify the SCS console speed display.
2.
Toggle the appropriate boom switches ON and press the AUTO/MAN button to toggle the console to
Automatic. Increase or decrease speed by one MPH [2 km/h]. The system should automatically correct to
the target application rate.
3.
If for any reason, the system is unable to correct to the desired RATE, check for improper vehicle speed or
a defect in the system.
4.
If the system still does not appear to be correcting properly, review the

5.
At the end of each row, toggle the boom switches OFF to shut off the belt or chain. This will also shut off the
area totalizer.
6.
Verify area covered and volume used.
Preventive Maintenance
Remove the SCS console from the vehicle when not in use for extended periods and store in a dry,
temperature controlled environment. Keep the SCS console from freezing and away from moisture.
