SECTION 10: ELECTRICAL SERVICE INSTALLATION
10.1 System Re q uirements
The CGTH-Series heater req u ires a gro u nded three-
prong electrical o u tlet to b e installed w ithin 18" (46
cm) of the rear s u rface of the heater's bu rner. It is
recommended that the o u tlet for the heater b e ceil-
ing-mo u nted and sho u ld b e on a dedicated circ u it.
DO NOT u se an electrical extension cord to operate
the heater.

10.2 Groundin g
The heater m u st b e electrically gro u nded in accor-
dance w ith the follo w ing codes: United States: refer
to National Electrical Code ® NFPA 70 - latest re v ision
Canada: refer to Canadian Electrical Code, CSA
C22.1 Part I - latest re v ision.
10.3 Important Notes
1. The CGTH-Series heater is controlled b y a lo w
v oltage (24 V AC) thermostat s u pplied w ith the
heater. The control transformer located inside
the
bu rner s u pplies the necessary electrical
po w er to operate the thermostat. No other elec-
trical po w er to the thermostat is req u ired.
2. The w ire for connecting the thermostat to the
heater is not s u pplied. Refer to the installation
instr u ctions s u pplied w ith the thermostat for cor-
rect w ire sizing.
10.4 Thermostat Placement
For b est res u lts, locate the thermostat as follo w s:
• Mo u nt the thermostat on an interior w all w hene v er
possi b le.
• Mo u nt the thermostat approximately 60" (15.2
cm) from the floor.
• Mo u nt the thermostat so that it is shielded from
the heat that is radiated from the heater.
• Mo u nt the thermostat o v er the thermostat tag that
is pro v ided in the accessories b ag. The thermo-
stat tag contains important safety information and
must b e u sed.
10.5 Thermostat Installation
1. Connect thermostat w iring to the thermostat as
follo w s:
A. Attach one w ire of the thermostat w ires to the
"R" terminal on the inside of the thermostat;
attach the remaining w ire to the "W" terminal.

B. Peel off b acking of adhesi v e strips on the rear
s u rface of the thermostat tag and position the
tag against the w all; sec u re thermostat o v er
tag u sing t w o scre w s.
DANGER
Electrical Shock Hazard
Plug heater into grounded three-prong ceiling
receptacle.
Do not cut or remove the grounding prong
from this plug.
Do not use with an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result
in death or electrical shock.
