Network management topology rule is the number of network management channels decides the
number of E1 direction as follows:
Three RC3000 devices make up this chain network and a PC can manage them all when connected to
LINK UP interface of the first RC3000.
Device 1: Set the second bit of DIP-switches ON, and others OFF; use one E1, time slot 0 and single
E1 direction.
Device 2: Set all DIP-switches OFF; use two E1s, time slot 0 and double E1 direction.
Device 3: Set all DIP-switches OFF; use one E1, time slot 0 and single E1 direction.
If connect two RC3000 devices through two E1, the number of used E1 will not be same as that of
network management topology E1 directions. See in following figure:
In this topology device 1 and 2 are connected through 2 E1 (4 E1 if it is optical interface), but the
network management topology must be configured as follows:
Device 1: Set the second bit of DIP switches ON, and others OFF; use two E1, time slot 0 and single
E1 direction.
Device 2: Set all bits of DIP switches OFF; use two E1, time slot 0 and single E1 direction.
If either of these two devices’ network management topology is configured as double E1 direction,
the remote device cannot be managed.
When use three RC3000 devices to make up a ring, the number of used E1 will not be same as that
of network management topology E1 directions. See in following figure:
