ESP-LXD Controller
Decoder Barcode Scanning
The optional Decoder Barcode Scanning feature allows you
to automatically enter Field Decoder Addresses into the ESP-
LXD controller.
Decoder barcode scanning is an optional feature of the Programming
Backup Cartridge (PBC-LXD) that lets you set up Field Decoder addresses
in the ESP-LXD controller by using a barcode scanning pen to read the
removable barcode labels attached to Rain Bird’s field decoders (see
Programming Guide instructions for more details).

NOTE:
The optional barcode scanning pen must be purchased
separately. Rain Bird recommends using a Unitech MS100-2
barcode pen with 9 pin (female) serial connector. Go to www.ute.
com for more details.
Install Barcode Scanning Pen
For this installation, you will need the following:
Programming Backup
Cartridge (PBC-LXD)
Barcode Scanning Pen
(Unitech MS100-2
recommended)
PBC-LXD RJ45
Connector Cable
(Included with PBC-
LXD)
Barcode Scanning Pen Installation Components

Open the controller outer cabinet door and inner front panel. See
Section H, Access Controller Cabinet for more details.

Press down on the top-latch of the cartridge bay cover (or PBC if
already connected) and remove it from the back of the controller
front panel.

Plug the PBC-LXD RJ45 Connector Cable into the connection jack
on the back-side of the PBC-LXD.
