Read this manual before using the product.
• This manual describes the basic operation of the indoor unit which uses the BRC1H71W remote
controller. Keep this manual where it is readily accessible, and refer to it when necessary.
• For detailed contents, refer to the BRC1H71W operation manual on our website.
Also, for explanation about things other than remote controller operation, refer to the operation
manual attached to the indoor unit.

The current status is displayed with icons.
About icons on the information screen
The items displayed vary depending on the indoor unit you are using.

Indicates an information screen.
MAIN/SUB remote
controller
Displayed when used as the MAIN/SUB remote controller.
1=main, 2=sub
Bluetooth*
Indicates that the controller is communicating with a
mobile device, for use with the app.
Clock not set
Indicates that the clock needs to be set again.
Setback
Indicates that the indoor unit is operating under setback
conditions.
Under centralized
control
Indicates that the system is controlled by central control
equipment (optional accessory) and that control of the
system by the controller is limited.
Changeover
controlled by the
master indoor unit
Displayed:
The remote controller does not have master control.
Unable to select heating/cooling operation.
Blinking:
None of the remote controllers in the system have master control.
Can be set as the master controller during this time.
Not Displayed:
The remote controller has master control.
Able to select heating/cooling operation.
Backup
Indicates that backup operation is being carried out.
Energy savings
Indicates that the system’s energy consumption is being
limited, and that it is running with restricted capacity.
Individual airflow
direction
Indicates that the individual airflow direction setting is
enabled.
Test operation
Indicates that Test Operation mode is active.
Stand by for Defrost/
Hot start
Indicates that the defrost/hot start mode is active.
Self-cleaning filter
operation
Indicates that selfcleaning filter operation is active.
Inspection
Indicates that the indoor or outdoor unit is being
inspected.
Periodic inspection
Indicates that the indoor or outdoor unit is being
inspected.
Ventilating operation
Indicates that ventilating operation is being carried out.
Warning
Indicates that an error occurred, or that an indoor unit
component needs to be maintained.

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could
result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may
result in minor or moderate injury.
It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices.
NOTE
Indicates situations that may result in equipment or property-damage
accidents only.

Never do.
Always follow the instructions given.

WARNING
• Do not modify or repair the remote controller.
Consult your Daikin dealer for any modification or for repairs.
• Do not relocate or reinstall the remote controller by yourself.
Improper installation may result in electric shocks or fire.
Consult your Daikin dealer to relocate or for any reinstallation.
• Do not use flammable materials (e.g., hairspray or insecticide) near the
remote controller.
Do not clean the product with organic solvents such as paint thinner.
The use of organic solvents may cause cracking, damaging the product, causing electric
shocks, or fire.
• Consult the dealer if the remote controller was submerged under water due
to a natural disaster, such as a flood or hurricane.
Do not operate the remote controller at this time or a malfunction, electric
shock, or fire can occur.
CAUTION
• Do not allow children to play with the remote controller to avoid causing
damage to the product.
• Never disassemble the remote controller.
Touching the interior parts may result in electric shocks or fire.
Consult your Daikin dealer for internal inspections and adjustments.
• Do not touch the remote controller buttons with wet fingers.
Touching the buttons with wet fingers can cause an electric shock.
• Do not wash the remote controller.
Doing so may cause electric leakage and result in electric shocks or fire.
• Never let the remote controller to get wet.
Water can cause damage to the remote controller, and may cause an electric shock or fire.
NOTE
• Never press the buttons of the remote controller with a hard and pointed
object.
The remote controller may be damaged.
• Never pull or twist the electric wire of the remote controller.
It may cause the unit to malfunction.
• Do not wipe the remote controller with benzine, thinner, chemical dustcloth, etc.
The remote controller may get discolored or the coating peeled off. If it is heavily dirty, soak a
cloth in water-diluted neutral detergent, squeeze it well and wipe the remote controller clean.
And wipe it with another dry cloth.
Maintaining the Unit and LCD Display
• Wipe the LCD and surface of the remote controller with a dry cloth when they become dirty.
• If the dirt on the surface cannot be removed, soak the cloth in neutral detergent diluted with
water, squeeze the cloth tightly, and clean the surface. Wipe the surface with a dry cloth.
• Do not use non-neutral detergents or organic solvents (alcohol disinfectant, benzene,
paint thinner, etc.).
May cause cracking, electric shocks or fire.
NOTICE
Do not use any paint thinner, organic solvent, or strong acid.
