3 Using the RIDA
®
QUICK SCAN reader
3.1 Switching the device on
To switch the device on, press the ENTER key (3) for around 1 second. The following start
menu is displayed and the device performs an internal test (Figure 3). After this short internal
test the Scan Mode is displayed (Figure 6).
The current status of the power supply is shown beside the battery symbol. "B" stands for
battery operation and "N" means that the device is connected to a mains power supply (the
batteries are being recharged). The batteries are recharged only when the device is switched
on.

Besides Scan Mode you can also choose between the following modes by pressing the

Check the Calibration of the reader
These modes are described in more detail below. The actually measured temperature is
shown on the display. The tests should be performed at room temperature.
3.2 Evaluate test strip (SCAN MODE)
The test strips are measured in Scan Mode. When you have switched on the reader you must
define or confirm the displayed parameters before you perform the first measurement.
To do this, select the individual entry fields with the cursor keys

and then change the
parameters using the

keys.
