Note!
If you operate the device on vibrating objects, this may
lead to vibration in the detector unit, which reduces the
accuracy of the measured value. If possible, always
place the RIDA
®
QUICK SCAN on a flat surface or at
least hold it still while it is measuring.
Note!
If you operate a RIDA
®
QUICK SCAN in high
temperatures, the measured value may deviate slightly
from the true value. Adhere to the environmental
conditions described in Section 5.2.
5.4 Replacing the batteries
In spite of the sophisticated charging technology batteries are subject to chemical ageing.
Consequently, they can only be recharged up to 1,000 times.
Towards the end of their life the service times become shorter and shorter and you have to
recharge the batteries more frequently.
When you are using the batteries pay attention to the following:
•
Use AA batteries like those that are supplied, also called mignon cells.
•
Use only nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries; they last considerably longer than
other types. If you use other cells (such as NiCd), you may damage the device.
•
As opposed to nickel-cadmium cells NiMH cells have almost no memory effect. This
allows you to operate the device in an optimum status for longer.
•
Avoid over-discharging the batteries. In spite of using NiMH batteries they can be
destroyed if they are over-discharged. Replace the batteries regularly or recharge
them with the supplied power unit.
•
The following battery types are approved for the RIDA
