PiXtend V2 -L- Hardware Manual
PiXtend V2 -L- and Raspberry Pi Model B + / 2 B / 3 B / 3 B+ can be supplied with power
in two different ways:
1.
"PI_5V" switch in the "ON" position
Operation via a common power supply - recommended standard.
Only the VCC and adjacent GND ports are connected to the external power supply.
The Raspberry Pi is powered by PiXtend's internal 5.1V. In this case, the Raspberry
Pi may not be connected to another power supply!
2.
"PI_5V" switch in the "OFF" position
Operation via two power supplies. PiXtend is connected to the external power
supply via the VCC and adjacent GND ports. The Raspberry Pi connects to a
second power supply (5.1V, 2.5A minimum) via the microUSB socket.
Warning!
If the "PI_5V" switch is in the "ON" position, the Raspberry Pi computer
must not be connected to another power supply.
Possible misfunctions, overheating of components or their defect
can result from possible compensation currents between the
power supply units!
USB devices on the Raspberry Pi computer (B+, 2 B, 3 B, 3 B+)::
If Raspberry Pi and PiXtend V2 -L- are supplied via the PiXtend voltage regulator (with
switch “PI_5V” in position “ON”) the total load on the USB ports is 1 A (2x 500 mA).
