A backflow damper be installed to prevent air return in one or the other of the two furnaces and
to ensure that hot air will flow into the house and will not return through the plenum of the other
furnace. Depending on your system configuration, it is possible that more than one register is
required to prevent air returns in the different hot air ducts (see examples below).
