Configuring the Printer
A–8
Resetting the Printer to Default or Saved Parameters
Printer reset is also called initializing the printer. This procedure clears RAM
and loads either the factory configuration parameters or a set of parameters
you have previously saved.
Factory parameters are permanently stored in ROM, but if you have saved a
set of configuration parameters your saved set loads when you reset the
printer.
NOTE: You can reset the printer any time the power is on—while it is
on–line, off–line, even while it is printing. However, to prevent
losing data, it is recommended that you reset only when the printer
is off–line and no data are in the buffer.
1.
Press the ON LINE switch to take the printer off–line.
2.
Open the printer cover.
IMPORTANT
In the next step, make sure you press and release CLEAR and ENTER
together. If you hold down the CLEAR switch after pressing both
switches, NVRAM is erased and all printer parameters are lost.
3.
Press and release CLEAR and ENTER simultaneously.
4.
Close the printer cover and press ON LINE to put the printer on–line.
