Optional Equipment
CT Option
The Coax/Twinax Integrated Interface (CT) option is a hardware interface
and printed circuit board assembly that enables the P4280 to emulate IBM
5225 Models 1, 2, 3, and 4 and 4234 Model 2 printers. A P4280 equipped
with the CT option can be attached directly to an IBM network. A switch on
the interface plate enables the CT to be set to receive data via coaxial or
twinaxial lines.
To process the data and control codes sent from an IBM host computer, the
CT converts the EBCDIC data to an expanded ASCII character set, and
sends the data to the printer’s PCBAs for further processing.
CT Installation
IMPORTANT
To reduce radio frequency interference (RFI), some ribbon cables are
wound around ferrite cores. You must duplicate these windings when
reassembling the printer. (Refer to Appendix G.)
NOTE: To remove the IGP, reverse the steps of this procedure.
1.
Prepare the printer for CT installation:
a.
Remove the paper guide assembly (page 5–42).
b. Remove the common controller printed circuit board assembly
(PCBA) (page 5–46).
c.
Remove the mechanism driver PCBA (page 5–48).
d. Remove the power supply PCBA (page 5–50).
e.
Remove the multi–I/O cable assembly (page 5–14).
2.
Install the coax/twinax I/O cable assembly: (See Figure 6–4.)
a.
Position the coax/twinax I/O interface connector plate in the
cutout above the power switch and install four screws.
b. Route the coax/twinax cables up the right rear inside of the
cabinet and into the card cage. Secure the cables in the bottom of
the existing cable restraints.
