Configuration Procedure
NOTE: If an “E” displays in the upper right corner of the message display,
the Vertical Format Unit (VFU) is enabled. If an “L” displays, the
VFU is loaded.
1.
Make a configuration printout (page A–3).
2.
Determine which parameter values must change to make the printer
operate correctly with the host computer.
3.
Press ON LINE to take the printer off–line and open the printer cover.
4.
Press UP and DOWN simultaneously. “ENTER Switch Not Locked”
displays briefly. (You must unlock the ENTER switch in order to change
printer configuration.)
5.
Locate the menu you want by pressing DOWN, then NEXT or PREV,
until the menu name appears on the display. Use the “Configuration
Diagram” (page A–9) as a road map.
6.
Press DOWN to enter a menu, then press NEXT or PREV until the
value you want is on the display.
7.
Press ENTER. An asterisk (*) appears next to the value, indicating this
parameter is now the active value.
8.
Press CLEAR to move out of the configuration menus and to the
“Off–Line Ready” state.
9.
Repeat steps 5 through 8 to make all required parameter changes.
10. Press CLEAR. “Off–Line Ready” displays. Press DOWN, then press
NEXT until “Save Parameters” displays. Press ENTER. “Save
Parameters Completed” displays. The printer has stored the new
parameters in NVRAM as power–up default values.
11. Press CLEAR to take the printer back to off–line status. Lock the
ENTER switch by pressing UP and DOWN simultaneously. “Locked”
appears briefly on the message display.
12. Close the printer cover. Press ON LINE. The configuration parameters
you selected are now active.
