2. Flüssigbrennstoffe
Als Hochlager-Brennstoff scheiden alle Flüssigbrennstoffe aus. Aber im
Basecamp machen sie einen guten Job. Da dort die Kocher oft lange bren-
nen, rate ich zu Petroleum. Benzin hat zwar einen höheren Energiegehalt,
aber Petroleum ziehe ich der Sicherheit wegen vor.
Grundregel: “Finger weg, solange die Kiste brennt“
Ich kenne viele Enthusiasten, die ihre Ausrüstung über alles lieben. Sie schrau-
ben so oft daran herum, das schließlich beim Reinigen Sand in den Brenner
kommt…
Regelmäßig: Lederdichtung in der Pumpe fetten
Die Pumpe
für den Kocher funktioniert im Prinzip wie eine Fahrradpumpe,
d.h am unteren Ende der Pumpenstange befindet sich eine Dichtung aus
Leder. Wenn dieses trocken wird, pumpt es sich hakelig, und manchmal kann
man auch keinen Druck mehr in der Flasche aufbauen: Sie müssen das Leder
fetten. Im Wartungs- und Serviceset für den MFS und den LFS (721290)
sowie im Wartungsset für die Pumpe (721460) gibt es ein spezielles Pflegefett
für die Lederdichtung
. Falls Sie das Spezialfett nicht dabeihaben, kön-
nen Sie als Notbehelf auch Vaseline, Sonnencreme, Olivenöl o.ä. verwenden.

Basic rule: “Hands off if it’s burning”
I know many enthusiasts who love their equipment more than anything else.
They fiddle around with it until, eventually, they damage their gear (e.g. sand
gets into the burner when they are cleaning it).
Do it regularly: grease the leather seal in the pump
The pump
for the stove functions like a bicycle pump. On the lower end
of the pump rod there is a leather seal. If it gets dry, pumping will become
difficult, and you will find it hard to build up pressure in the bottle. You must
grease it. In the maintenance and service set for MFS and LFS (721290) and
in the maintenance set for the pump (721460) you will find a special grease
for the leather seal
. If you don’t bring this special grease, you can also
use vaseline, sun protection paste, olive oil or something similar.
1. Unscrew the cover under the pump handle, and pull the handle with the
pump rod carefully out of its casing.
2. Now you see the leather sealing at the lower end of the pole. Rub the
leather until it gets soft, and rub the grease into it. If the sealing leather
gasket is completely worn out, replace it. Off you go to your Primus dealer!
3. Re-install the pump.
