System Overview
1.1 Introduction
Industrial PC does not always looking for the fastest because applications need
different level computing power upon requirement and cost. ROBO-8771VG2 is
the one PICMG 1.0 SBC (Single Board Computer) that Portwell offered with Intel
®
Ultra Low Voltage Celeron M 600MHz processor. The ULV Celeron M 600MHz
processor built-in 512KB L2 cache that maintains support for MMX™ technology
and Internet Streaming SIMD instructions and full compatibility with IA-32
software. The on-die 32-kbyte Level 1 instruction and data caches and the 512
kbyte Level 2 cache with Advanced Transfer Cache Architecture enable excellent
performance.
One of the major reasons that ROBO-8771VG2 adopts the ULV Celeron M 600MHz
processor is thermal design power (TDP) - 7W which is best selection for fanless
application. Fanless single board computer means more reliability (moving parts
such as processor cooling fan shrinks the MTBF since that’s most unreliable parts on
single board computer) and quite (noise introduced by processor cooling fan was
gone with passive heat sink).

Extreme Graphics with DVMT (Dynamic Video Memory
Technology) that share system memory up to 64MB to support analog monitor with
pixel resolution up to 1600x1200 at 85Hz and up to 1920x1440 at 60Hz.
ROBO-8771VG2 is all-in-one SBC that features dual IDE ports, one floppy channel,
one parallel port, dual serial ports (one port is RS232/422/485 selectable) and six
USB ports. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports also design on-board for communication
with devices or networks.
