Troubleshooting: Writing CD-R and CD-RW Discs
Symptom
Possible Causes
Solutions
Changed authoring
software.
If using different authoring
software than for the previous
writing, errors may occur. Always
use the same authoring software.
Not enough disc
capacity.
Capacity of standard CD-R/RW
media is limited to 650 MB (74-
min. type), including lead-in, lead-
out and TOC data. Due to
formatting overhead, a UDF
formatted disc has a capacity of
approximately 533 MB. Use a
different CD-R/RW media if
capacity is insufficient on current
media.
Using disc written on
non-Plextor CD-R or
CD-RW drive.
Use CD-R or CD-RW disc written
by the PlexWriter 40/12/40U.
Cannot add
information (add
writing) on CD-
R/RW.
The disc is written with
a CD-R or CD-RW
drive from another
vendor.
Use a different CD-R or CD-RW
disc.
Try to use same drive to add more
data to CD-R or CD-RW disc.
