DHCP
PPPoE
Manually
If you select DHCP, PPPoE or Manually, you must
specify values for External Interface and IP
Masquerading.
External Interface:
The external interface lets you
obtain an IP address using one of three methods:
•
DHCP:
specify the Client Host Name and the
Client Identifier. If you do not have this
information, you do not need to fill it in.
•
PPPoE:
specify the User Name and Password
(twice). Your ISP should provide you with the
user name and password.
•
Manually:
type the IP Address, Subnet Mask,
and Gateway in the fields. You can obtain this
information from your ISP or network
administrator.
When enabled, IP Masquerading configures the
ISA-4000 to provide NAT (Network Address
Translation) service.
Note:
Network Address Translation is an IETF
standard that allows an organization to have an
Internet presence with one address. NAT converts
the address of each LAN node into one IP address
for the Internet (and vice versa), and serves as a
firewall by keeping individual IP addresses hidden
from the outside world.
