• Call a Pioneer-accredited repair center.
• Check all connections.
• Connect the MONITOR OUT jack to the
TV monitor (p.18).
• Make sure the room environment follows
the guidelines displayed on the OSD during
auto setup or memos on page 14-17.
• Check for household appliances (air
conditioner, fridge, fan, etc.) that may be
affecting the environment and switch them
off if necessary.
• Check all connections.
• Make sure the component is connected
correctly (p.18-31).
• Press MUTING on the remote control.
• Adjust MASTER VOLUME.
• Turn the TAPE 2 MONITOR off (p.62).
• Press SPEAKERS (A/B) to select the
speakers you connected (p.74).
• Select the proper signal with the SIGNAL
SELECT button (p.52).
• Turn MULTI CH INPUT mode off (p.61).
• Connect the POWER AMP IN terminals
to the front channel pre outs using the
supplied U-shaped connectors (p.34).
• Connect the front speakers to the A
speaker system jacks (p.26).
• See “SPEAKER SYSTEMS” on p.41-43
to check the speaker settings.
• See “CHANNEL LEVEL” p.44 to check
the speaker levels.
• Connect the speakers (p.26).
• Choose a surround listening mode (p.50).
• Select speakers A (p.74).
Problem
Cause

FAN STOP blings in the
display and no sound is
output. Then the unit turns
off.
Setup
The setup screen doesn't
appear.
Every time Auto Surround
Sound Setup is attempted,
there is some kind of error, or
the settings seem incorrect.
The LARGE and SMALL
settings for speakers after
the Auto Surround Sound
Setup are incorrect.
After the proper settings
have been made, there still
seems to be something
wrong with the sound.
The image on the screen is
disturbed when an overlay
message disappears.
No audio
No sound is output when a
function is selected.
No sound output from the
front speakers.
No sound from surround or
center speakers.
• The fan for ventilation stopped because
of external cause. (ex. a pencil or other
foreign object entered through the hole in
the fan.)
• The fan failed.
• The output jacks haven't been connected
properly.
• The MONITOR OUT jack hasn't been
connected.
• The room environment is not optimal for
auto setup (too much ambient noise,
obstacles blocking the speakers from the
microphone, etc.)
• There are other frequencies in the room
that are affecting the auto setup.
• The speakers have been incorrectly
connected (+/- connections are reversed).
• Some TVs display this problem. This is
not a malfunction with the amplifier.
• Improper connections.
• Sound is muted.
• The volume is turned down.
• The TAPE 2 MONITOR is on.
• Speakers are turned off or selected
improperly with the A/B switch.
• i.LINK/DIGITAL/ANALOG setting is
incorrect.
• MULTI CH IN mode is on.
• The U-shaped connectors that connect
the POWER AMP IN terminals to the front
channel pre outs are not connected.
• The front speakers are connected to the
B speaker system jack.
• Speaker settings are incorrect. (ex. set to
NO)
• The surround and/or center levels are
turned down.
• The surround and/or center speakers are
disconnected.
• The listening mode is STEREO.
• Speakers A&B or B are selected.
