Image Format Control
There are several possibilities to focus on the interesting parts of an image:
•
Region of Interest (ROI) (see Section 7.1)
•
Multiple Regions of Interest (MROI) (see Section 7.2)
These features can help to reduce the number of pixels read from the image sensor which leads
to an increased frame rate (see Chapter 8 for more information about the available frame rate).
7.1
Region of Interest (ROI)
Some applications do not need full image resolution. The image size can be reduced by setting
the horizontal image offset (Offset X) and the image width (Width) and by setting the vertical
image offset (OffsetY) and image height (Height). A region of interest can be almost any
rectangular window but it must be placed within the sensor area. O Width must not
exceed the sensor width and O Height must not exceed sensor height.
The ROI horizontal size and position in the D640I-M01 camera must be a multiple
of 32 pixels. The vertical size and position must be a multiple of 4 pixels.
7.2
Multiple Regions of Interest (MROI)
Up to 512 different regions of interest are configurable. This feature can be used to reduce the
amount of image data and increase the frame rate.
An individual MROI region is defined by its starting value in y-direction and its height. The
starting value in horizontal direction and the width is the same for all MROI regions and is
defined by the ROI settings. The maximum frame rate in MROI mode depends mainly on the
number rows and columns being read out.
The individual ROI in a MROI must not overlap.
The MROI regions must be specified ordered from the top to the bottom of the
image.
Vertical starting position (MROI_Y) and height (MROI_H) of a MROI-region must
be a multiple of 2.
Fig. 7.1 compares ROI and MROI: the setups (visualized on the image sensor area) are displayed
in the upper half of the drawing. The lower half shows the dimensions of the resulting image.
