1. Pre-Operation Inspection:
It is necessary to perform a visual inspection prior to each
time using the product. If any deficiencies are found, remove
the product from service and contact the T.A. Pelsue Co.
regarding repair. The following checklist coupled with
Figure
#5.2a
should be used as a guide to determine whether the
equipment is in good operating condition prior to usage.
Equipment that is not in good condition can endanger the
safety of the operators during use.
The Pre-Operation Visual Inspection is not limited to, but
must include the following items;
a.
Check that the product has no structural defects, such
as dents, bends, cracks, or fractures.
b.
Ensure that all product rating & warning labels are clear
and legible.
c.
Check that the arms pivot freely and that the slider blocks
are able to slide throughout the arms (interference of the
slider blocks can be indicative of a defect).
d.
All hardware has not been damaged and is in working
condition.

5.2 - Product Installation & Set-up
Prior to Operation, the #SB-SM1 4-Arm Manway Base must be configured and installed according to the following
guidelines.

• The #SB-SM1 is only to be
used on manways with a bolt
circle diameter ranging from
17” to 40”
maximum.
• The #SB-SM1 is only rated
for use in conjunction with the
Pelsue Model #FT-C70 Fall
Arrest Tower.
• Installation of the #FT-C70 Fall
Arrest Tower on an SB-SM1
4-Arm Manway Base will
reduce the allowed number of
users from
3 to 2
.
• The manway to which the #SB-SM1 is mounted to must have a cover installed, constructed of steel of at least
1/4”
in
thickness for safe mounting.
• Mounting hardware must have a diameter of a 1/2” or greater. Do not mount the #SB-SM1 with any hardware of less
than 1/2” in diameter.
• Always remember that a complete fall arrest system must be employed and rated according to the capabilities of all
the components used within the system.
