1.2 Pre-installation Requirements
The following requirements must be met prior to installation of a ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL system.
Power & Grounding
• One standard duplex 115-125 VAC 10 amp (or greater) wall outlet
• Earth grounding termination located within 5 feet of the ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL Controller
• Use of a Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is highly recommended
PC & Software
• Laptop or other portable personal computer running MS Windows 7 (or later) operating system.
• ACS Enterprise software installed and running on the PC or laptop.
IP Connection
• One 10/100 MB Ethernet port connection terminated with an RJ45 jack installed within 5 feet of the
ACS-1E/ACS-1EUL Controller.
• All ACS-1E controllers leave the factory with a default IP address of 192.168.1.248, Port 2000 and
ACS-1EUL controllers with an address of 192.168.1.249, Port 2000.

From a LAN Setting:
The Ethernet port from a local network switch or hub must be active with
configured Port #2000 and a compatible IP address supplied prior to installation.
Note:
A controller’s IP address and Port # can be reconfigured after installation. The IP address
also can be changed prior to installation using a Peer-to-Peer connection.

From a Peer-to-Peer Setting:
Connect to an ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL controller via a network cross-
over or Parabit-supplied serial cable between the PC or laptop and the controller network
socket.
Follow the steps below to connect via Parabit-supplied serial cable:
(1) Connect a USB to serial converter to the local PC.
(2) Open Device Manager of the local PC to determine the COM port assigned to the con-
verter.
(3) On the ACS Enterprise Main Menu, go to
Setup
>
Dialup/Direct
.
(4) In the COM Port list, select the COM port number to be assigned for the connection and
click
Save
.
(5) Connect the serial cable to the port of the local PC and to the 3-pin header (J4) on the
ACS Controller.
(6) On the Site Management screen, go to
Connect
>
Direct Connect
.
(7) To disconnect from an ACS Controller when finished, select
Disconnect
.
Modem Connection:
One analog “Tip & Ring” telephone line terminated with an RJ11C telephone jack installed within 5
feet of the ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL controller.
