4.1.3 Preliminary Electrical Checks
1. Prior to connecting the ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL DC power supply, make sure the door-lock power sup-
plies are connected to their respective locking devices.
2. The electrical locking devices can be tested prior to turning on the controller by doing the follow-
ing:
a. Connect their respective power supplies to their intended AC source. If necessary, make sure
the power supplies are correctly adjusted for their AC voltage sources and apply power
b. Temporarily remove the control wires from the Door Control Output(s)
c. Open and short the respective wire-lines going to the Magnetic-Bar Locks (normally active)
and Door Strikes (normally inactive) to check their ability to lock and unlock the respective door
hardware.
d. Reconnect the control wires back to their socket terminals on the Door Control Output(s)
3. Prior to connecting the power supply, make sure the Controller power switch is toggled to “OFF.”
Then, do the following:
a. Insert the ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL power supply into its intended AC power socket. Be sure not to
short the supply wire ends.
b. With a digital multi meter (DMM), select the appropriate DC voltage range and connect the
DMM leads across the power supply wires. Check to see that the RED (+) polarity sleeve is on
the correct wire and make sure the power supply Outputs a DC voltage between 9 and 12
volts for the ACS-1E and between 12 and 15 volts for the ACS-1EUL.
c. Disconnect the ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL power supply from its AC source and connect each DC
Output wire to the appropriate socket on the GREEN terminal block at the lower right-hand cor-
ner of the Controller. Once complete, reconnect the power supply to its AC source.
