Always
switch
OFF
the
device
when
it
is
not
in
use.
Amplifier
probe
handling
The
Amplifier
probe
is
designed
to
identify
and
trace
wires
or
cables
without
damaging
the
insulation.
The
Amplifier
probe
boosts
the
signal
sent
over
the
cable
or
wire
by
the
tone
generator.
1.
Connect
the
tone
generator.
2.
In
terminated
working
cables
connect
one
test
lead
to
a
terminated
wire
and
the
other
lead
to
earth
or
equipment
ground.
3.
In
un
‐
terminated
o
non
‐
working
cables
connect
one
test
lead
to
an
un
‐
terminated
wire
and
the
other
test
lead
to
another
un
‐
terminated
wire.
4.
Switch
on
the
tone
generator.
Depress
the
round
on/off
spring
‐
loaded
button
of
the
amplifier
probe.
The
volume
control
switch
can
be
adjusted
to
suit
the
environment.
Volume
can
be
increased
to
overcome
noise,
or
decreased
to
reduce
interference.
Connecting
earphones
to
the
earphone
jack
switches
off
the
built
‐
in
speaker.
5.
Touch
the
tip
of
the
amplifier
probe
to
the
insulation
of
each
wire
to
be
tested.
6.
Tone
reception
will
be
loudest
at
the
wire
connected
to
the
tone
generator.
Tone
generator
handling
Red
and
black
test
leads
are
provided
as
well
as
a
standard
4
conductor
modular
cord
and
plug.
A
3
‐
position
toggle
switch
controls
the
modes
of
operation
plus
a
3
‐
colored
LED
is
provided
for
line
polarity,
continuity
and
voltage
testing.
