I cannot launch the HotSync
Manager.
■
If you are using the optional serial cradle/cable, or if you
are performing a HotSync operation using a modem, make
sure you are not running another program, such as America
Online, that uses the serial port you selected in the Setup
dialog box.
■
Make a backup copy of your Palm Desktop data, and then
reinstall Palm Desktop software.
When I perform a HotSync
operation on my Windows
computer, I receive the 8009
error message: An application
has failed to respond to a
hotsync notification.
The 8009 error indicates that the Windows registry is corrupt.
you need to rebuild the HotSync Manager registry entries.
Information on rebuilding the registry entries, go to
and search the
Palm Knowledge Library
for “error 8009.”
I tried to do a local HotSync
operation, but it did not
complete successfully.

Make sure your handheld is seated in the cradle/cable
correctly.
■
Check the connection between the HotSync cradle/cable
and the USB or serial port on your computer.
■
Make sure the username you selected in Palm Desktop
software matches the username assigned to your handheld.
■
Make sure the date on your computer matches the date on
your handheld.
■
Read the HotSync Log for the user account for which you
are performing a HotSync operation.
■
From the Palm Desktop home screen, click the HotSync
Manager and then select Custom. Be sure that the conduits
are set correctly.
