FITTING

1

Try on your helmet – it should cover your forehead

with the peak just above your eyes – it should be a
close fi t, but not uncomfortably tight.

2

The helmet should not be able to move around on

your head or be pulled back to expose your forehead.

3

To prevent the helmet from rotating forward over your

eyes you can twist the rear dial clockwise to tighten
the fi t.

4

To change the helmet’s front/back balance slide the

straps through the three-way adjuster – take time to
tension the chin straps equally.

5

Pull the chin strap through the quick release buckle to

tighten under your chin – the fi t should be snug, but
not uncomfortably tight.

6

To refi ne the fi t, use the self adhesive fi t pads. Re-

move the fabric liner to expose the EPP foam.

7

Add fi t pads where you need them – check for fi t and

reposition if necessary for a snug fi t with no pressure
points before sticking them down.

8

Replace the liner and try on your helmet – if the fi t is

still not satisfactory, repeat the steps.

CERTIFICATION

EN1385

CERTIFIED

This helmet is designed to protect impact caused by colli-
sion of head with anobstacle while canoeing and white water
sports. It has passed EN 1385:2012 to show conformity to
the EHSR of Regulation(EU) 2016/425 and regulation(EU)
2016/425 as brought into UK law and amended.

FOR WATERSPORTS USE ONLY. NOT FOR ROCK CLIMBING,
CYCLING OR MOTOR VEHICLE USE

•  For adequate protection this helmet has to fi t or be
adjusted to the size of the user’s head

•  The helmet is made to absorb the energy of a low
by partial destruction or damage to the shell and the
harness, and even though such damage may not be
readily apparent, any helmet subjected to severe impact
should be replaced

•  The attention of users is also drawn to the damage

of modifying or removing any of the original component
parts of the helmet, other than as recommended by the
helmet manufacturer. Helmets should not be adapted
for the purpose of fi tting attachments in any way not
recommended by the helmet manufacturer

•  Do not apply paint, solvents, adhesives or self-adhe-
sive labels, except in accordance with instructions from
the helmet manufacturer

•  For cleaning, maintenance or disinfection, use only
substances that have no adverse eff ect on the helmet
and are not known to be likely to have any adverse
eff ect upon the wearer, when applied in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instructions and information

•  This helmet is not intended for use in white water
classes 5 and 6 as given by the International Canoe
Federation

•  This helmet is designed to help protect from bumps,
scratches and concussion

MAINTENANCE

Removable, machine wash liner
(30° C synthetics wash).

Do not use solvents or corrosive cleaners.

Wipe clean outer plastic shell with a damp cloth.

Leave your helmet to air dry between
sessions, do not store wet.

Use cardboard box for transport or storage.

This helmet has a maximum lifespan of
5 years. Retire your helmet if damaged.

Washing

 – rinse helmets in clean, fresh water after

each use to help reduce odour, corrosion or degrada-
tion of materials. Do not use solvents or strong cleaning
agents on your helmet. The liner in a Shuck helmet can
be removed and machine washed on a 30° cycle.

Drying

 – drip dry helmets out of sunlight and away from

heat sources. Frequent forced drying in drying rooms
will shorten the lifespan of the foam inserts and parts.

Storage

 – store helmets upright on a shelf out of

sunlight. Do not hang helmets from the chin strap. Do
not store helmets wet or damp. Avoid stacking your
helmets, as sustained compression can damage the
shell.

Markings and mounts

 – Do not use permanent marker,

paint or self adhesive stickers to add identifying marks
to your helmet. Popular sticky mounts, for cameras and
lights, may aff ect the shell material, attach them at your
own risk, their eff ect on the helmet is not covered by
warranty.

Lifespan

 – This helmet has a maximum lifespan of

5 years. All plastic degrades with time and use, glue,
webbing, buckles and cradles will all be subject to wear
and tear. How long your helmet lasts will be aff ected by
how often it is used, the environment in which it is used,
and how well it is maintained.

INSPECTION

Make a visual check each time you fi t your helmet. We
recommend that you should carry out these checks.
If a product does not pass any of these it should be
repaired or retired.

Should the shell sustain signifi cant impact, for example
resulting in deep abrasion or gouges, then the helmet
should be retired from use.

Check the foam fi t. If loose or missing replace or
repair.

For helmets with an EPP foam liner, if the EPP foam
is damaged or deformed retire your helmet.

Buckles have no broken parts, lock closed and open
as intended.

Straps are free to slide and webbing is free from
tears, snags or unraveling.

Cradle and/or adjuster is fi tted correctly and is in
good working order.

The shell is not mishapen, dented or cracked.

Check the plastic shell inside and out for cracks or
white marks* that may indicate an impact. Do not
remove the foam liner attached to the shell.

Check for excessive abrasion that might result in the
shell of the helmet failing.

Check colour for signifi cant fading (which may be
caused by exposure to ultraviolet in sunlight), as this
may indicate a deterioration of the strength of the
materials.

*

Repeated low level impacts, such as being dropped

onto hard surfaces, can result in damage in the form of
white marks on the inside of the shell. Tests show these
would be unlikely to result in the shell not performing
to the ISO standard, but we advise that you consider
the age, amount of use and extent of any damage as to
whether to keep helmets in service.
