CHAPTER 6
30
Another very important point is that work rooms, working places, tools and clothes must
always be kept as clean as possible. While working on hydraulic parts smoking is prohibited.
This implies not only a certain fire risk, but the tobacco ash may work like an abrasive in the oil.
When the system is being filled with oil it is important to use a filter filling system to filter the
oil.
RULE 2:
Cleanness during every-day operation of the hydraulic system.
Here the most important point is not to contaminate the oil. This means change the filters – even the air
filters in hydraulic aggregates – according to the regulations. In addition, make sure that also all other
parts are kept clean.
Rule 3:
Cleanness during control and repair works.
Before disassembling a hydraulic component clean the component and, it’s surrounding. Loose, flaking
off paint must be removed before unscrewing the screw joints and all open pipe connections, tubes,
hose ends, etc. must be covered with plastic bags to prevent any dust and dirt from penetrating during
the shutdown.
