5.7. Automation function for distribution substations
5.7.1. Unloaded springs automation functions
1. It is composed of:
a. “Springs unloaded” digital input
b. “Open springs” digital output
c. "Spring loading time" setting (0.1 to 100 s)
Operation: When the "springs unloaded" digital input is
activated an internal “closing locking by unloaded springs”
signal is generated and a timer starts according to "spring
loading time" setting. If before exceeding this time the input
is deactivated, the lock is deactivated. If the time is exceed
with no opening, "open springs" digital output is activated,
a PROCOME signal of “unloaded springs alarm” is given and
the lock is kept. The alarm and locking do not disappear till
the input is deactivated.
5.7.2. Voltage presence
It is not an automation function in it, but a control signal.
To give the “voltage presence” control signal (1, presence,
0 absence), the higher phase-to-phase voltage must be
within some o preset values, as:
1. There are three settings referred to "voltage presence”
a. Phase to phase rated primary voltage (kV)
b. Voltage absence threshold (% of the rated one)
c. Voltage presence threshold (% of the rated one)
2. Operation: When the highest of the phase to phase
voltages exceeds the presence threshold, control word
bit is set to 1, when it falls below the absence threshold
it is set to 0.
5.7.3. Lockings
Opening locking. The open order is not given by command,
input or push-button, if the breaker is seen as open (but it
can be given by protection trip, regardless how it is seen).
Closing opening. The open order is not given by command,
input, push-button or recloser, if the breaker is seen as
close. The order will be neither given if there is a “locking
by unstretched springs”. If when a reclosing has to be done,
there is that locking, there is a definite trip.
