Presentation of results
The presentation of results is made in different ways:
1. In the display. In the “last fault” submenu.
2. In the fault report that is sent to the PC by
communication.
3. In a control measurement:
a. Range: - 20 % to 100 %
b. It is maintained active the programmed time (0 – 7199 s)
or till another fault occurs if the programmed time is the
maximum one (7200 s)
4. As an option, if the equipment has an extension
card with analog outputs as a current signal in mA,
depending on the percentaje of the total of the faulty
line.
In this case, the proportion between the distance and the
current is shown in the following figure.
Therefore, the distance to the fault is calculated from the
analog output current as follows:
Distance [%] = current [mA] x 120/5 – 20
And the calculation of the current corresponding to a
particular distance is made as follows:
Current [mA] = [Distance [%] + 20] x 5/120
The behaviour of the analog output has the following
characteristics:
1. After a fault, it remains active during the set time (from
0 to 3600 s)
2. If another fault occurs while the current output is active
two things might happen:
a. If the recloser is in an ongoing cycle, the current output is
not modified and it remains active during the whole set
time
b. If the recloser is not in an ongoing cycle, the current
is deactivated during 2 minutes and then the new
calculation is displayed during the set time
The operation of the locator has a special
feature when the Inrush setting is selected
(“Current detection”) on the locator’s settings
screen.

Figure 4.43.
When it is set to YES, the operation is as follows:
1. If the unit displays the distance to a fault (ongoing
output activation time), only a new reclosing cycle fault
is calculated while the unit displays the first reclosing
sequence fault value. If the unit does not display the
distance fo a fault, meaning that the time during which
the output remains active is zero, the unit displays all
faults occured (regardless of the reclosing cycle).
If the Inrush is set to NO, the unit calculates all faults. When
a fault occurs within the maintain the distance time and
then another fault occurs, the latest is displayed after the
first one (if several faults occur, only the first and last faults
are displayed).
Regarding the distance displayed in the different protocols,
PROCOME allows to display the maintained fault (with the
programmable time) or the instantaneous fault. In other
protocols (DNP, MODBUS, 10, etc.) the instantaneous fault
is displayed when the count number format is selected and
the maintained fault when the calculate format is selected.
The distance is measured in count number format and the
full scale is 120 % (offset or a displacement of minus 20).
