OPTIMOD-PC
INSTALLATION
2-49
When I Launch the OPTIMOD-PC control application, the meters do not move and I
cannot control my card.
•
Unless you have only one OPTIMOD-PC card installed in your computer, you must
connect the application to a given card (via the
C
ONNECT
Menu item) before you
can control it. This is because the Control Application is designed to address more
than one card in multi-card installations. See the steps starting with step 4 on
page 2-5.

Other possible causes are:
•
Your computer’s firewall is blocking the connection. See page 2-58.
•
Password is wrong.
•
The target card is open on another computer on the network.
•
The system that houses the target card is not on.
•
The Orban Windows service routine,
OptimodPcService
, is not running in the
computer housing the target card.
•
The Orban Windows service routine has malfunctioned. If all else fails, try end-
ing and then restarting
OptimodPcService
in the Windows Task Manager:

tion, a message appears saying that the OptimodPC Service has stopped.
•
If you upgraded the software and you did not install it into the same location as
your previous software, the OPTIMOD-PC service was not overwritten correctly.
In this scenario, the OPTIMOD-PC service will not be started automatically and
the active parameters will not be restored until the OPTIMOD-PC Control appli-
cation is launched. You should uninstall any previous version of the OPTIMOD-
PC software via Windows Add/Remove Programs and re-install the new soft-
ware. See

CD audio playback can sometimes have dropouts if the CD player is being ac-
cessed by the IDE controller using PIO mode. Usually, this can be fixed by setting
the IDE controller to DMA mode. Here are the steps to change the setting on
