4. Swap link cards with known good link cards to determine if a similar failure
occurs.
D.2.5
Interrupt Signal Failures
I
2
C components in the FRUs generate interrupts to report hardware state changes
and alarm events. Interrupt failures are reported if a problem is discovered during an
interrupt signal test or if an interrupt cannot be cleared during normal interrupt
processing.
Possible Causes
■
This could be a side effect of other fault conditions present in the system.
■
A connector has failed if the interrupt signal spans multiple FRUs.
■
The FRU has failed.
Resolution
1. Some fault conditions or component failures will result in interrupts that
cannot be cleared.
First resolve all other failure conditions, then check if interrupt failures are still
reported. For example:
■
I
2
C component access failures often cause interrupt failures since I
2
C
commands are used to clear interrupt conditions in the hardware.
■
Voltage rail failures in an I/O boat can result in interrupt failures for
hc:///iox=
box_instance
/iob=x/vseq=0
.
■
Some types of PSU failures will cause the fan controller on the centerplane to
post excessive interrupts so interrupt failures could occur for
hc:///iox=
box_instance
/fanctrl=0
2. If no other fault conditions are present, the following interrupt failures indicate
a component failure in an I/O boat:
■
hc:///iox=
box_instance
/iob=x/ecb=0
■
hc:///iox=
box_instance
/iob=x/intconc=0
■
hc:///iox=
box_instance
/iob=x/vseq=0
