Stereo measurement function
The 3D coordinates of each specified point are calculated by applying the principles of
triangulation to a set of images obtained using two objective lenses that are set in parallax.
Measurements are done based on these coordinates.
As the measurement results obtained here are affected by surface conditions of the
measurement object or image capturing conditions such as the brightness, Olympus
cannot guarantee the accuracy of measurement results. We recommend that users
identify the measurement accuracy through experiments.
This measurement method uses the left and right images acquired by two objective lenses
that are set in parallax and identifies the corresponding points in the right image located at
the same positions as the measurement points and the reference points specified in the left
image. If a position of a corresponding point is displaced from a measurement point or a
reference point, the correct measurement result cannot be obtained. In this case, correct the
position of the point (refer to “ Modifying the point” (page 89) ), alternatively, change the
point of view by moving the tip of the scope to perform measurement.
This stereo measurement function allows you to select the display mode of the live image from
either the <MONOCULAR IMAGE> or the <BINOCULAR IMAGE>.
The <MONOCULAR IMAGE> is a display mode to observe the approach to the measurement
area easily on the screen.
The stereo scope unit (optional) is required for the stereo measurement.
