11.6.2

Operating in –6 dB Mode

In –6 dB mode, the desired gate floats at 6 dB below the peak-echo amplitude in the 
gate. This corresponds to 50 % of the echo’s maximum height. Figure 11-27 on 
page 237 depicts gate 1 with floating gate active in the –6 dB mode. Note that the gate 
is exactly at 50 % of the echo’s peak amplitude. The peak amplitude is at 
approximately 80 % of the full-screen height.
