Installation
Appropriate Installation Locations
A CO alarm monitors a circular area with a diameter of about 4.5 meters.
Therefore, install
■
one CO alarm in every bedroom,
■
one CO alarm in every room with a heating appliance (pay particular attention to
the information below),
■
at the height at which most people breath
(also applies for rooms without a heating appliance).
Although carbon monoxide has a similar density to the ambient air, it is normally
expelled as part of a hot gas mixture and therefore tends to ascend until it cools
down.
Assemble CO alarms in rooms containing a heating appliance
■
at least 300 mm from a wall and 150 mm from the ceiling,
■
at a distance of between 1 and 3 m to potential sources of carbon monoxide
