Drum Sequence
This mode is designed for use with Drum Maps and when applied, sup-
plies a rythmic drum sequence, instead of a standard Arpeggiator pattern.
This is similar in effect to using a preset drum machine. When this mode
is selected, the
Pattern
parameter (see below) supplies one of 33 differ-
ent drum sequences to be applied to the Drum Map.
Octave Range (Menu Page 2)
Sets how many octaves the Arpeggio pattern will sweep through. The
sweep range is selectable from 1 to 4 octaves.
Pattern (Menu Page 3)
Normally allows various rythmic patterns to be applied to the Arpeggiator
modes. 32 different patterns are available. Experiment with different pat-
terns numbers to achieve the desired rhythm. When set to
OFF
, each
note played has an equal duration.
If the
Mode
parameter on page 1 of the Arpeggiator Menu is set to
Drum
,
this parameter instead, selects one of the 33 available drum sequences to
be applied. The sequenced drum patterns available are detailed in the fol-
lowing table
While a Drum pattern is playing. The Part EDIT button blinks to indicate
the start of the pattern as it loops around.
Note : When Drum sequences are being used, the
Arp Sync Type
parameter found in the Synchronisation Menu (see page 52) has no effect
on the drum pattern being played. Similarly, the
Octave Range
,
Pattern
Velocity
and
Gate Time
parameters in the Arpeggiator Menu also have
no effect.
Pattern Velocity (Menu Page 4)
When set to
ON
, the note velocities for each note played by the
Arpeggiator will be preset values. When set to
OFF
, the note velocities
used when playing the keyboard notes are used by the Arpeggiator.
Gate Time (Menu Page 5)
Sets the gate time or duration of the notes being played by the
Arpeggiator. Small values of gate time produce a Staccato effect. Large
values produce a Legato effect. Anticlockwise and the gate time is very
short, clockwise and the gate time is long.
Keysync (Menu Page 6)
When activated, the arpeggio pattern will re-start whenever a new note is
played on the keyboard.
Arp Note Destination (Menu Page 7)
For flexibility, the Arpeggiator output may be routed to a number of desti-
nations. Setting the Arp destination to
INT
routes the Arpeggiated notes to
the internal sound engine. This could be considered as the normal mode
of operation. Only notes played on the keyboard to generate the Arpeggio
are transmitted as MIDI note on/off messages.
Setting the destination to
EXT
will route the ONLY the notes played by the
Arpgeggiator to the MIDI output socket (transmitted as MIDI note on/off
infomation).
Setting the destination to
I + E
(internal and external) will route
Arpgeggiated notes to
both
the MIDI output socket and the internal sound
engine. As with the
EXT
option, it is the notes generated by the
Arpeggiator which are tranmitted via MIDI.
The Part Edit Menu
For versatility, when a program is selected to play on a Part, other infor-
mation is necessary, such as the MIDI channel it is playing on, the physi-
cal output audio jack on the rear panel that is being used etc. etc.
In the example illustration, on Part 1, as well as having the Bass Guitar
Program (sound), the MIDI channel is set to 1, the Outputs are set to 1 &
2 , the volume is set to 99 and the tuning offsets have values.
To change these values, the Part Edit Menu is used.
