The Synchronisation Menu
This menu gives access to all parameters which may be synchronised to
internal or external MIDI Clock. This is selected by pressing the SYNC
MENU button located in the Effects / Arp / Hypersync section. When
SYNC MENU button is pressed, the KS 4 / KS 5 immediately enters
Menu Mode
and the LED above the MENUS button lights to confirm this.
Use the PERF / PROG / PAGE up/down buttons to scroll through the
Menu functions available - See table below.
In all cases, when a feature is synchronized, the tempo is controlled by
the Arpeggiator TEMPO knob when
MIDI Clock Source
is set to
INT
, or
by the external sequencer’s tempo when
MIDI Clock Source
is set to
EXT
. See Page 50 for information on setting the Global
MIDI Clock
Source
.
Note ; In
Performance Mode
, there is only one Arpeggiator TEMPO con-
trol which is common to all Parts. It is therefore not possible to have differ-
ent Parts running at different TEMPO speeds.
When controlling any of these features from a sequencer, it is important to
ensure that the sequencer is transmitting MIDI Clock messages. Many
sequencers do not transmit MIDI Clock messages at all when they are
stopped, only when they are recording or playing back. Consult the
sequencer manual for details on how to set the sequencer to transmit
MIDI Clock.
In all cases, when a features is synchronized to MIDI Clock, its front panel
controls (for example LFO SPEED) will have no effect. These controls will
only become effective onc the feature’s Synchronization rate has been set
to
OFF
, when the feature will no longer be affected by incoming MIDI
Clock messages or the Arpeggiator’s TEMPO knob setting.
With the exception of the Arpeggiator synchronization. All of these sync
settings may be stored within a Hypersync template. See pages 29 and
30 for details on using and editing Hypersync templates.
Arp Sync Type (Menu Page 1)
Allows the Arpeggiator to be synchronized with an external sequencer. A
range of synchronization values are available :
LFO 1 and 2 Delay Sync Time (Menu Pages 2 & 4)
Allows either LFO’s delay time to be synchronized to internal or external
MIDI Clock tempo. The synchronization values available are :
LFO 1 and 2 Sync Speed (Menu Pages 3 & 5)
LFOs may be synchronized to MIDI Clock. As an example, a very pleas-
ing audio effect may be achieved when an LFO is modulating the filter cut
off frequency and this is synchronized to the tempo of a musical piece.
The synchronixation value selected is the period taken for the LFO to
complete one whole cycle of its waveform.
To synchronize an LFO, alter this value until the desired musical timing is
displayed. See the synchronization table given above (for the LFO Delay
synchronization) for details on how these settings relate to the MIDI
Clock.
Delay Sync Time (Menu Page 6)
Enables the time of the Delay repeats to be synchronized to the tempo of
a song. The synchronization rates available for the Delay Effect are :
Note: When controlling the Delay
Sync Time
from a sequencer, it is
important to ensure that the sequencer is transmitting MIDI Clock mes-
sages are a very steady tempo, otherwise ‘clicks’ in the sound may occur
while the Delay Effects re-adjusts its buffer to suit the new tempo rate.
