ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
DETAILED DAILY INSTRUCTIONS

D1. ENGINE – Check Engine Oil Level
NOTE
Wipe all fittings, caps, and plugs before performing any
maintenance to reduce the chance of system
contamination.
Check the engine oil level on the dipstick (A) BEFORE
STARTING THE ENGINE for the first time each day.
Add as required, using seasonal viscosity grade oil.
IMPORTANT
DO NOT add additional oil until the oil level is BELOW
the crosshatch marks (B) on the dipstick.
See DIESEL ENGINE OIL in Fuels, Lubricants, and
Coolant Section for oil specifications.
Depending on the application, oil may be added at the
oil filler cap (C) on left side of the engine, right side of
the machine.
IMPORTANT
DO NOT fill above the top mark on the dipstick. Oil
levels anywhere within the crosshatch marks (B) are
considered in the acceptable operating range. See
Figure 7-4.
