MACHINE OPERATION
STARTUP
Please read and comply with all of the safety
precautions in this manual BEFORE operating this
machine.
DANGER
GENERAL HAZARD! Improper use of this
machine for any type of operation can
cause serious injury or death. Follow ALL
safety guidelines in the Safety section for
safe use of this machine.
PRE START-UP CHECKS
a. Check the engine oil level
b. Check the engine coolant level
c. Check the hydraulic oil level
d. Inspect the electrical connections for integrity
STARTING THE ENGINE
IMPORTANT
The PUMP must be in the
OFF
position and the
THROTTLE must be in the
LOW
position to start
the engine.
1. Place the Battery Disconnect Switch in the
ON
position.
2. Place the hydraulic
PUMPS
switch in the
OFF
position.
3. Place the Engine Speed Switch (
THROTTLE
) in
the
LOW
position.
4. Turn the
IGNITION
Switch to the first detent
position.
a. Power will come on, but the engine will not
start.
b. Wait for the PowerView to come on.
c. When the PowerView screen comes on, a
WAIT TO START – PREHEAT
message
appears on the screen.
5. When the message disappears and the light goes
out, it is OK to start the engine.
Once the engine has started, you will see the first
of many status screens on the PowerView screen.
Use the left and right arrow keys to navigate from
one screen to another.
NOTE
More detailed information regarding programming,
setup, and fault codes can be found behind the
component data tabs such as ENGINE and others.
6. Check that the following are within normal
operating range:
a. Air Pressure 100 to 130 psi
b. Oil Pressure 35 to 65 psi
c. Volts 23-26 VDC
d. Engine RPM 1000 rpm
7. Place the hydraulic
PUMPS
switch in the
ON
position.
8. Place the
THROTTLE
switch in the
HIGH
position.
— Check the hydraulic oil filter indicators.
— Check the air cleaner indicator.
— Inspect hoses and fittings for leaks.
— Check the height setting of the proximity
switches.
9. Select a placement of the
BRAKES
switch in either
the
DEADMAN
or the
SERVICE
position.
10. Select the
RAIL TYPE
you will be working on,
WELDED
or
JOINTED
. Press the switch on the
RAIL LIFT
section on the center console.
