Cabling Storage Devices
All storage devices require power and signal cable connections. Devices
shipped with the system are already connected. Use the following cabling
procedures for replacing or installing optional devices.
IDE Drive Cabling
Cable an IDE drive in accordance with the manufacturers instructions and
as follows.
1.
Determine if the drive being installed is a master device or a slave
device on the primary channel or secondary channel (see the previous
table, “IDE Connector Configurations”). Set the drive jumpers
accordingly.
2.
Connect an available signal cable connector to the connector on the
IDE drive. Use care to prevent bending connector pins.
3.
Locate an available power connector coming from the power supply.
4.
Connect the appropriate power cable to the power connector on the
IDE drive.
5.
If you are installing a CD-ROM drive or a DVD-ROM drive and your
system has speakers, connect the drive’s audio cable to the CD In
connector on the system board or optional sound board (see the
instructions that come with the drive).
Diskette Drive Cabling

1.
Connect the diskette drive signal cable connector to the signal
connector on the diskette drive.
