Maintaining Print Quality
Following are suggestions for maintaining the
highest print quality from your NEC 870
SuperScript laser printer.
• When the print output becomes light,
redistribute the toner. If light print output
persists, replace the Toner module. Refer to
Chapter 8, “Maintaining Your Printer”, for
information about replacing or redistributing
the Toner module.
• Use high-quality paper or transparencies to
obtain sharp, crisp characters and maximum
contrast. Refer to Appendix A, “Selecting Print
Media”, for detailed specifications.
• Clean the appropriate parts of the printer.

Printer.”
Print Quality Problems
This section has information to help you resolve
print output quality problems.
Light Page
• Clean the inside of the printer. (Refer to
Chapter 8, “Maintaining Your Printer.”)
• Redistribute the toner. (Redistribute the Toner
module. Reinsert the Toner module and print
several pages.)
• The Toner module may need replacing.
• If the problem persists, the Transfer unit may
need replacing. Contact NEC Printer Technical
Support at 800-632-4650.
